Lexie Smiles Wins 2014 QUT Vice Chancellor Performance Award

Congratulations to our wonderful Watercolour specialist and Thursday morning painting teacher Lexie Smiles. Lexie was awarded the 2014 Vice Chancellor Performance Award. She has been recognised as a Session Academic Success Advisor for the School of Design in the Creative Industries faculty particularly in promoting networking.

Lexie has taught at QUT and Lilly-Lee Gallery for many years and it is lovely to see her recognised by QUT.

A graduate of the Queensland College of Art, Lexie is a very experienced teacher in a variety of art areas, having taught children, tertiary students and adults for many years. She has held appointments at the Queensland College of Art, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and TAFE.

Drawing and painting have been a constant love in her life and for her, it is a joy to offer these skills to others. Watercolour, oils, acrylics, markers, pastels, pencils, pen and ink all provide media which students can explore with her. Lexie loves seeing the growth, development and satisfaction people derive from their art.

Lexie does watercolour commissions through Lilly-Lee Gallery. She teaches watercolour, acrylic and Oils at Lilly-Lee Gallery on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:30.
