Shirley Villa Usuga brings a wealth of talent and experience to our community. With a broad skill set spanning painting - in particular acrylic and watercolour, sculpture, conceptual art, digital art, illustration, jewellery making, sketching, and architectural drawing, Shirley is passionate about inspiring and guiding students of all levels.
Shirley’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Architecture from San Buenaventura University in Colombia (2014-2019), where she honed her skills in architectural drawings and perspective. She also trained extensively in painting and sculpture at the Rosalba Academy (2010-2020), developing a strong foundation in traditional techniques. Her passion for digital art led her to complete courses in Concept Art, Matte Painting, Digital Drawing, and Character Creation at Libel Academy (2018-2019), further expanding her creative skills.

In addition to her academic achievements, Shirley has built a successful career as a freelance illustrator and painter from 2020 to 2024, including producing children’s book illustrations. She also held private workshops and art classes in Columba before coming to Australia and working as a teaching assistant at the Wesley Taylor Art Studios in Fortitude Valley from 2023-2024 where she continued to share her expertise. Shirley also has a variety of creative interests, including dance, singing, and sewing, which enrich her artistic approach.
